Questions
Can Cedar predict the exact cutoff?
No one can. For most draw types the best single guess for the next cutoff is the last one, and Cedar doesn’t pretend otherwise. What it adds is when the next round is likely, how far the cutoff could move, and what that means for each of your clients.
How accurate are the forecasts?
Replayed over every round since 1 January 2024, using only the data available before each one, the 80% range held 151 of 165 cutoffs. The full record, every miss included, is on the accuracy page.
Why can’t I see the next round here?
The forecasts are the product. Firms with access see the next round for every draw type and each client’s chances; this page shows only past rounds.
Is this IRCC’s calculator?
No. Cedar is independent and not affiliated with IRCC or the Government of Canada. The official score is always the one in your client’s Express Entry profile.
What happens when IRCC changes the rules?
Every score uses the rules in force on its date. When IRCC changes how points are counted or pauses draws, firms get a notice in the app while the forecasts catch up.
Where is client data kept, and who sees it?
In Canada, and only the people in your firm see your clients. Clients don’t get accounts: they see what you send them, or the calculator on your own website.

- Illustration. The round is IRCC’s; the clients are made up, and their chances follow that round’s cutoff, not Cedar’s forecast.
- Backtests from 1 January 2024 to 13 October 2026, each range made only from earlier data: 151 of 165 cutoffs fell inside (83% to 100% by draw type). For CEC dates, the usual-gap rule missed by 20 days on average. Rounds data: IRCC.
- All 25 numbers IRCC’s calculator reports, on 709 test profiles. In two rare cases it departs from the Ministerial Instructions; Cedar follows the Instructions. The official score is the one in the client’s Express Entry profile.
